Disability access for the Karoonda swimming pool redevelopment and a bush tucker and community produce garden are the two local projects awarded funding through the Mallee South round of Fund My Idea.
The Karoonda Area School will receive $30,000 to support the construction of its new swimming pool, in particular to purchase and install disability access equipment and build a toilet and change room facilities that people living with disability can use.
An additional $20,000 will help establish a community garden in Lameroo through the Lameroo Regional Community School. It will feature two areas - a community produce garden and a bush tucker garden which will include indigenous plants, bushes and trees.
Community volunteers and school students will work together to create the garden which can be used by the community and will include an outdoor kitchen and fire pit.
Ten community-nominated projects were featured on the YourSAy website for public voting for the Mallee South.

It’s important we provide services for South Australians living with disability and I’m very happy that the Karoonda swimming pool will now be able to do this thanks to strong community support this idea received as part of Fund My Idea.
The community garden and bush tucker garden at Lameroo will bring locals from all walks of life together and I look forward to seeing this idea become reality.
