PIRSA's one-stop-shop at Riverland Field Days

Thursday 15 September 2016

Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA) will once again offer a raft of information about its services and programs at this year’s Riverland Field Days at Barmera.

PIRSA’s site will promote a number of initiatives that support the “Premium food and wine produced in our clean environment and exported to the world” economic priority and its objectives, recognising the importance of the food and wine sector to the Riverland and the state.

PIRSA staff and Fishcare volunteers will be on hand to discuss topics such as biosecurity measures against pests and animal and plant diseases, recreational fishing, the New Horizons Soil Improvement Program and the South Australian River Murray Sustainability Program.

The latest redevelopment news and images from the new-look Loxton Research Centre will also be on display. PIRSA staff from the Centre will be on hand to explain what the new conference facilities, tasting kitchen and refurbishments of the existing building will mean for the River Murray region.

Visit PIRSA at sites 311 and 313 while at the field days and, in doing so, you could win a local premium food and wine hamper valued at $300.

PIRSA will be joined at the site by Grain Producers SA, SafeWork SA, SA Produce Market and drumMUSTER/Chemclear.

Quotes attributable to Daniel Casement, Executive Director Rural Solutions SA

The Riverland Field Days provide a valuable opportunity for farmers, community members and relevant industries to share information and have a great day out.

This event has long been a significant day on the rural calendar, particularly in the Riverland. Field days are a great way to network, make new connections and catch up on what’s happening in your industry.

For PIRSA, with its intrinsic link to rural communities and primary producers, the field days also provide an opportunity to strengthen its relationship with regional South Australians and connect with the people it works to assist.
