The Regional Development and Innovation Fund is an initiative under the $265 million South Australian River Murray Sustainability (SARMS) Program. The SARMS program encompasses the $240 million Irrigation Industry Improvement Program (3IP) and the $25 million Regional Economic Development program.
The $12.5 million RDIF program is part of the powerful suite of Regional Economic Development programs which include the:
- $5 million Industry-led Research Sub-Program (IRSP)
- $7.5 million Loxton Research Centre Redevelopment project.
The RDIF provides funding to non-irrigators within the South Australian River Murray region through a competitive grant application process. Its chief objective is to support long-term sustainable and strategic contributions to the River Murray region's economic development.
The RDIF is delivering employment opportunities and economic diversification in the River Murray region through the funding of projects such as infrastructure works, new and expanded regional services, educational programs and training and research opportunities.
The RDIF will deliver long-term benefit to river communities within the South Australian River Murray corridor, which includes the regional local government areas of:
- Renmark Paringa
- Berri Barmera
- Loxton Waikerie
- Mid Murray
- Karoonda East Murray
- Murray Bridge
- Coorong and Districts
- Gerard Community Councils.
