Daniel Casement

Executive Director

Daniel Casement was appointed Executive Director of Rural Solutions SA in 2012. Daniel continues to lead Rural Solutions SA's success as it focuses on regional program delivery, and modern-day extension and knowledge transfer.

Daniel has been with Rural Solutions SA since 2001 and has fulfilled leadership roles in primary industries development and extension, agribusiness, regional development and social sciences. Before this he worked in research roles with The South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) for the Australian seafood industry.

As a leader of a small executive team, Daniel brings high-level innovation, strategic and operational planning and management, leadership and human resource management skills to his role.

Daniel has experience in working in culturally sensitive areas through work with Indigenous communities across Australia, and with clients from the Philippines, Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling Islands), Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Islands.

In recent years Daniel has applied his knowledge and experience to growing the business of Rural Solutions SA and leading his teams through difficult economic challenges, while ensuring strategic direction and growth.

Future success will see Rural Solutions SA become a globally recognised business focused on major program delivery, commercial operations and maintaining an industry and community information conduit through the operation of regional customer service centres. Rural Solutions SA will provide a responsive and reliable service to government and other clients, drawing on its strong background in technical excellence, and working with regional businesses and communities. The Rural Solutions SA business will provide highly skilled project teams in areas as diverse as land and soil management, agricultural production, food demand chains, mining and environmental restoration, Aboriginal and community engagement, international development programs and climate adaptation.

Daniel holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Fisheries). With more than 18 years working across Australia in primary industries, Daniel continues to deliver high-level technical consultancies and builds the organisation profile of Rural Solutions SA.

Brett Bartel

Director Service Delivery

Brett has been a director, manager and technical leader in the environmental management and regional engagement field for over 17 years. Having worked extensively across South Australia and nationally, he has developed an intricate understanding of agriculture, natural resources management and established strong networks with government and private sector stakeholders.

As a trained IAP2 practitioner his approach to engagement and facilitation is consistent with the values underpinning quality engagement processes.

Brett leads his team with vision and expertise in the environment, agriculture, community engagement and regional development spheres. He inspires innovation and excellence, ensuring even the most complex of consulting projects achieves outstanding solutions.

He is passionate about integrating technology and collaboration to provide innovative outcomes.

He has an intricate understanding of rural Australia and strives to create sustainable regions by bridging the interface between industries and stakeholder.

Brett is a fellow of the Governor’s Leadership Foundation and has recently completed an MBA at the University of South Australia.

Stephen Dubrich

Manager Strategic Development

Stephen recently joined Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA)/Rural Solutions as Manager, Strategic Development. He has a financial, business planning and program development background and brings a wealth of valuable experience to the agency. In a previous role Stephen was integral in the development of the business case for the $265 million South Australian River Murray Sustainability (SARMS) Program, working across State and Australian Government agencies and with industry to help secure funding for this significant program.

Ben Fee

Manager Agribusiness Initiatives

Ben came to PIRSA/Rural Solutions in 2013 to lead the implementation of the $265 million South Australia River Murray Sustainability (SARMS) Program. Ben has led the development and implementation of SARMS since 2011. With the completion of first rounds of the Irrigation Industry Improvement Program (3IP) and the Industry-led Research Program Ben has transitioned out of the program to lead the development of new Agribusiness initiatives on behalf of PIRSA.

Maria Cervini

Manager Rural Solutions SA Business Performance and
Program Manager South Australian River Murray Sustainability Program

Maria joined the team in 2013 bringing considerable experience in business performance management in the water resources management sector. She has successfully managed the implementation of financial and Commonwealth reporting systems for the South Australian River Murray Sustainability Program. She has now taken on both the role of Program Manager SARMS and is responsible for the management of business performance on behalf of the Rural Solutions Division. Prior to joining Rural Solutions Maria worked with the South Australian Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources managing the State’s relationship with the Commonwealth Government for the financial management and reporting of the Riverine Recovery Program, implementation and reporting of the Save the Murray Campaign and the South Australian River Murray drought response.
