The past

South Australia has long recognised the benefits of increasing the value of its food and wine sectors.

The South Australian Food Plan journey began in 1997 with the launch of the State Food Plan – Towards 2010. The mission was to increase the value of South Australia’s food industry to $15 billion a year by 2010.

Primary Industries and Regions South Australia (PIRSA) has led subsequent iterations of the plan since then.

South Australia’s food and wine industries alone generated almost $18.2 billion in revenue in 2014-15.

Today, South Australia remains committed to continued growth of its food and wine sectors.

The Premium Food and Wine from our Clean Environment Strategic Priority sets out a common direction for Government, industry and regions.

The priority’s Action Plan outlines activities that support the growth and recognition of our food, wine and agriculture industries, locally, throughout Australia and in key overseas markets.
