A Drought Assistance Package for the Upper South East has been developed to support farmers and farm businesses in the region who are currently suffering from the effects of 2 consecutive years of well below average rainfalls.
The Upper South East Drought Assistance Package includes:
PIRSA Regional Drought Coordinator
Peta Crewe is Primary Industries and Regions SA's (PIRSA) Limestone Coast Regional Coordinator and the Drought Coordinator. She is the community's key contact.
- work with regional leaders and the community to consider their needs
- support the Upper South East organisations to access services and assistance
- liaise with the Australian Government to coordinate service provision.

Planning, support and advice
Farm Business Specialist Advice Support and property management planning will provide one to one and strategic decision support and advice from PIRSA specialist consultants.
Additional funds and support are being made available to Rural Business Support, which delivers the Rural Financial Counselling Service in SA, and support to young farmer networks through a range of activities and professional development opportunities.

Drought Concessional Loans
Drought Concessional Loans are available to South Australian farm businesses to better adapt and prepare from the effects of dry seasons. The current loans program will end 31 October 2016 or earlier if funds are fully allocated. Go to the Drought concessional loans page.
