AdvanceAg to return bigger and better in 2021

Wednesday 26 February 2020

AdvanceAg will return in 2021 following the success of the Marshall Liberal Government's inaugural AgTech showcase at the Adelaide Showgrounds on Monday, with more than 300 people in attendance.

Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Tim Whetstone said AdvanceAg would return next year after the success of this year's event.

"Following Monday's inaugural AdvanceAg showcase and the positive feedback we've received about the importance of hosting such a collaborative networking event in South Australia, the Marshall Liberal Government will hold the event again in 2021," said Minister Whetstone.

"To have a sold-out crowd with more than 300 registrations shows the importance of creating connections for our farmers, businesses, researchers and entrepreneurs to technology that will grow their productivity and profitability.

"Like all events, we are hoping AdvanceAg will grow and we will be working with those in attendance to ensure we have a program that encourages on-farm adoption of technology.

"The Marshall Liberal Government is focussed on boosting the state's economy and we know that investing and adopting cutting edge technology will keep our farmers at the forefront.

"As was mentioned several times during AdvanceAg, we want to provide the platform for South Australia to be a national leader in AgTech.

"AgTech presents the biggest opportunity for our $15.2 billion primary industries and agribusiness sectors to transform on-farm practices and achieve efficiencies unlike anything we've seen before.

"We have already launched two AgTech demonstration farms in the South East and established the AgTech Advisory Group which is working on a long-term strategy for AgTech in South Australia."

The event was officially opened by Premier Steven Marshall and featured keynote speakers Dr Astorre Modena from Israel's Terra Venture Partners and Darren Thomas, Chief Executive Officer of Thomas Foods International.

AdvanceAg featured three themes of farm management, remote sensing and IoT devices, and included speakers from Elders, Thomas Food International, Hummingbird Technology, D-Cat, Lely Australia, Ceres, CiboLabs and many more.

Presentations from speakers at yesterday's AdvanceAg will be available at https://www.pir.sa.gov.au/advance-ag
