Riverland Field Days showcases best of the region

The Riverland Field Days event is back on 16 and 17 September  in Barmera, showcasing the best of products, machinery and services from around Australia.


PIRSA's stand will provide the latest information on biosecurity, recreational fishing, AgTech, and more. You can also enter a draw to win a hamper full of the region’s products, worth $300.

Experts will be on hand to share details about PIRSA's activity in the Riverland as well as across the state.

  • Plant health experts will have detail on reducing risks of pests and diseases that can affect South Australian crops and threaten our economy, including fruit fly.
  • Find out about invasive species in South Australia, and the programs in place for their control, including feral pigs, deer, rabbits, wild dogs, cats, mice, and more.
  • Learn all about AgTech demonstration farm at Loxton, which give farmers a chance to get hands-on with the latest AgTech products.
  • Discover how the SA Drought Hub is helping with drought resilience in the region.
  • Chat to a Fisheries Officer or Fishcare volunteer to get up-to-date information about recreational fishing. You can also grab a free measuring gauge or sticker and check out the Fisheries boat on display.
  • Scientists from the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) will be sharing information about the Inland Waters and Catchment Ecology program and their work in management, conservation and rehabilitation of inland waters, estuaries and catchment ecosystems. You can also check out the research boat on display.

The PIRSA stand will also have detail on some relevant programs from outside the department. You can learn about:

  • drumMUSTER, which provides Australian agricultural and veterinary chemical users with a recycling pathway for eligible empty agvet chemical containers.
  • ChemClear, which provides Australian agricultural and veterinary chemical users with a collection and disposal pathway for their unwanted chemicals.
  • Other Government of South Australia agencies and services, including
    • the Office of the Small Business Commissioner
    • SafeWorkSA
