- Coonawarra Wine Trail - Innovative Wine Tourism Experience
The Great Wine Capitals Best of Wine Tourism Awards celebrate innovation and excellence in wine tourism and provide an opportunity to gain exposure and recognition for commitment to providing leading wine tourism experiences.
A record number of entries were received this year and in total 27 South Australian finalists have been selected across seven award categories.
The winners will be announced on Thursday 8 November, followed by the International Best of Wine Tourism Awards, during the Great Wine Capitals AGM gala dinner, the first time South Australia is hosting the awards since joining the global network.
Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Tim Whetstone said it was wonderful to see wine regions from across the state nominated in the world-renowned awards.
“Congratulations to the finalists who represent the state’s well-known wine regions – Adelaide Hills, Barossa, Coonawarra, McLaren Vale and Riverland – and demonstrate excellence in wine tourism offerings and experiences,” said Minister Whetstone.
“We look forward to hosting international wine delegates from across the Great Wine Capitals Global Network and share our world-class wine tourism experiences throughout our regions.”
South Australia has previously been well represented at the International Best of Wine Tourism Awards, with Seppeltsfield winning the Best Wine Tourism Services category in 2016 and Penfolds Magill Estate winning the Best Wine Tourism Services category in 2017.
The gala dinner and award is the final event as part of the five-day Great Wine Capitals Annual General Meeting, to be attended by about 100 international delegates.
