Highlighting the importance of primary industries in South Australia will be a key focus of the Primary Industries and Regions South Australia tent at this year's Riverland Field Days.
The PIRSA tent at this year's Riverland Field Days will showcase State Government support and programs available to South Australian producers, recreational fishers, and the broader community.
Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Tim Whetstone said the event attracts 15,000 people and is an important part of educating youth on the importance of our food producers.
"The Riverland Field Days is a major primary industries event in South Australia that provides a great opportunity for the community to learn more about the state's biosecurity, animal and plant health, fishing opportunities and much more," said Minister Whetstone.
"From drought support services, animal health programs such as One Biosecurity, and initiatives like the zero-tolerance approach to fruit fly aimed at enhancing protection of the Riverland's pest free status, visitors to the PIRSA tent will learn about a range of programs and services.
"Fisheries Officers and Fishcare Volunteers will also be on hand to answer questions about the state's fishing rules and regulations.
"There will also be plenty of activities for the whole family, including learning how to measure and handle fish correctly, free stickers and colouring as part of the Riverland Field Day Safari, and the chance to win a basket full of delicious local produce and beverages.
"With an influx of visitors over the weekend the Riverland Field Days event is a real economic boom for the region which shoot provide a boost to local businesses.
"The event is also a great time for these visitors to enjoy local hospitality and see what the Riverland has to offer."
