AgTech on show in Struan

Wednesday 27 April 2022

The latest in AgTech and the benefits of implementing the technology on-farm will be showcased at tomorrow’s (Thursday, 28 April) Struan and Kybybolite Best Practice Demonstration Farm Field Day.

The Field Day will help farmers better understand how AgTech could solve some of their on-farm challenges.

It is currently estimated increasing the uptake of AgTech could return up to $2.6 billion per annum to the South Australian economy along with providing producers with new ways to increase their productivity and sustainability.

The Struan and Kybybolite Best Practice Demonstration Farm is a joint State Government collaboration with Elders through the Thomas Elder Institute and supported by Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA).

The government-industry collaboration at the two closely located research properties provides a platform for ground truthing new technologies, demonstrating the latest in commercial products and the on-farm benefits the technologies provide. Currently a total of 31 different technologies operates at both farms.

Bookings are required for producers to attend the Struan and Kybybolite Field Day on 28 April.

Quotes attributable to Minister Clare Scriven: "The AgTech field day enables producers to assess the practical benefits of implementing the latest technology, on their properties," she said.

"Throughout the day there will be a series of presentations on the latest technology in such areas as remote cattle weighing, pivot and flood management, water monitoring, virtual fencing, genomic selection, automatic stock water mineral supplementation and weather stations.

"Farmers looking at implementing AgTech will be able to see first-hand the range of options available to them.

"We know producers are most engaged when they see the practical real time demonstrations of the technology."
