The Marshall Liberal Government is inviting applications for the inaugural $5 million competitive funding round under the Regional Growth Fund (the Fund) which opens today.
The Fund, which was announced on 23 June, forms part of State Government’s ‘Recharging our Regions’ policy and was a key commitment of its 100 day election promise.
Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Tim Whetstone is encouraging innovative and creative applications for the 2018-19 competitive fund.
“This Fund heralds an exciting new era for State Government support for regional South Australia and I look forward to seeing a diverse range of applications aimed at growing regional economies and creating jobs,” said Minister Whetstone.
“Through the Fund, the Marshall Government aims to work with communities, industry and local organisations to build strong, productive relationships that deliver jobs and critical infrastructure within our regions.
“One key point of difference for the Liberal Government’s regional funding model is that we are encouraging collaboration and community and industry benefits.
“We are keen to foster business clusters and organisations such as local industry associations working together to pursue innovative projects.
“We will be supporting new economic activity that wouldn’t otherwise occur in the region.
“It’s also important the projects reduce the cost of doing business and contribute to the scale of an industry or sector, while also supporting regional communities.
“There is so much opportunity to unlock in our regions and I look forward to the opportunities that will be presented to us through the Regional Growth Fund.
“The Marshall Government is backing our regions to grow and prosper through such initiatives as this Fund.
“In addition to the $5 million competitive round of funding in the RGF, $10 million in the Fund will be open to applications all year-round for strategic projects with a focus on leveraging other sources of funding, such as Federal Government level.”
Applicants can seek grants from $50,000 up to $2 million. Applications close on Friday 31 August 2018. Guidelines and application details are now available at www.pir.sa.gov.au/regionalgrowthfund
