Applications are being sought from emerging female leaders passionate about facilitating change in rural and regional Australia for the 2019 AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award.
The Rural Women’s Award is Australia’s leading award in acknowledging and supporting the essential role women play in rural industries, businesses and communities. The 2019 round is now underway with applications open until 31 October 2018.
The Award allows state and territory winners to bring to life a project or initiative that will benefit rural or regional Australia, with a $10,000 bursary from Westpac. Winners also receive professional development opportunities and will join an impressive Alumni network.
Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Tim Whetstone said the Award supported the prosperity of rural industries and communities, and the development of female leaders, now and into the future.
“The AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award is a significant program that provides a platform to inspire and support Australian women to use and develop their skills to benefit their industries and communities,” said Minister Whetstone.
“It recognises and celebrates the next generation of future rural leaders and their potential to create a positive impact.
“South Australia is spoiled for choice when it comes to talented women who will make outstanding candidates for the 2019 Rural Women’s Award.
“I encourage any woman whose passion lies with bettering our rural industries and communities to apply for the Award and take advantage of the opportunities this program can offer.
“Alternatively, you can nominate someone you think should consider applying or encourage your female colleagues, friends or relatives to apply.
“The Rural Women’s Award is open to all women involved in rural and regional industries (agriculture, forestry and fisheries), businesses and communities. It doesn’t matter where you live – the important thing is you want to create impact and make a difference to rural Australia.”
Primary Industries and Regions SA is a supporting state agency of the Rural Women’s Award, which is an initiative of AgriFutures Australia.
