AquaUtopia aquaculture application

PIRSA is assessing an application received from AquaUtopia Pty Ltd for a new pilot lease and licence in waters off Cape Jaffa.

About the aquaculture application

The application proposes the farming of Gooseneck Barnacles (Lepas anatifera) using settlement pipes and Common Kelp (Ecklonia radiata) using uncontained longlines.

Draft lease and licence certificates containing co-ordinates and proposed licence conditions can be accessed through the aquaculture public register. Search the lease (LA00449) or licence number (AQ00414).

Location of proposed activity

The proposed activity is located in subtidal waters approximately three nautical miles north-east of Cape Jaffa, South Australia. The area is outside gazetted aquaculture zone policy areas.
