Draft Aquaculture (Zones – Eastern Spencer Gulf) Amendment Policy 2020

PIRSA would like your feedback on the draft Aquaculture (Zones – Eastern Spencer Gulf) Amendment Policy 2020 (PDF 40.6 KB).

The policy will guide the future management of aquaculture along the Eastern Spencer Gulf.

Proposed changes

The changes would allow industry to explore the farming of algae in the three Hardwicke Bay prescribed aquaculture zones. This aims to:

  • promote the expansion of aquaculture in the Yorke Peninsula region
  • support jobs growth
  • expand market opportunities for aquaculture operators.

There are no further proposed amendments to the current Aquaculture (Zones – Eastern Spencer Gulf) Policy 2005, including changes to existing zone boundaries or prescribed criteria for other aquaculture zones.

Hard copies of the policy and policy report are available at PIRSA Fisheries and Aquaculture, 2 Hamra Avenue, West Beach, SA 5024.
