Sheep and goat movement documentation
Instructions on documentation for moving sheep and goats are below.
National sheep health declaration
The owner/manager of animals is required to declare information about:
- Ovine Johne’s disease
- footrot
- lice.
Failure to provide a National Sheep Health Declaration is an offence under the Livestock Act 1997 and can result in expiation notices and fines.
- Download a National Sheep Health Declaration from the Farm Biosecurity - Sheep webpage under the Biosecurity toolkit heading.
- Download a National Goat Health Declaration from the Farm Biosecurity - Goats webpage under the Biosecurity toolkit heading.
National vendor declaration
National Vendor Declaration forms are available from Integrity Systems. See their website for instructions on how to order forms.
Sheep being moved that are not vendor bred must have either:
- all property identification codes (PIC) on the National Vendor Declaration form
- pink post-breeder tags with a PIC.
See an example of a correctly filled out National Vendor Declaration ( or ) with associated PIC listed.
Sheep and goat movement waybill
A movement waybill can be used as an alternative document to a National Vendor Declaration. Movement waybills meet the National Livestock Identification System requirements for moving sheep in South Australia.
National Vendor Declarations are required when the movement involves a change of ownership.
