Pikes Wines in the Clare Valley has been awarded a $320,000 Regional Development Fund (RDF) grant to expand its operations with a modern visitors’ centre showcasing regional and local produce, as well as creating an enhanced visitor experience for the region.
The new facility, at the winery’s scenic Polish Hill River Estate, will bring a unique integrated wine, food, craft beer and art-focused visitor destination in the Yorke and Mid North region with seating capacity of up to 130 people for functions.
The project will enhance the Clare Valley’s growing reputation for culinary tourism, and create direct and indirect economic benefits.
Andrew Pike, Director, Pikes Wines, said that the RDF support meant they would be able to create a unique wine and food destination in the Clare Valley.
“The new facility will be designed to complement and integrate with our existing winery, brewery, art gallery and office building infrastructure and make the most of our beautiful vineyard views,” Mr Pike said.
“Our visitors’ centre will include a new cellar door sales facility, 70 seat restaurant, separate boutique providore outlet and a private wine room to provide an integrated showcase of the amazing variety and quality of the premium wine, craft beer, regional food and artistic talent within the local Clare Valley region and wider South Australia.”
The $1.57 million project will result in eight ongoing full-time jobs, in addition to four jobs during construction.
