The best food experiences and cellar door visits of Kangaroo Island will be recognised through the recently launched Kangaroo Island Food and Wine Awards 2016.
The awards program will reward and encourage excellence in five categories – Kangaroo Island Dining, Farm Gate and Cellar Door Experience, Culinary Tourism, Business Development and Kangaroo Island Wine of the Year.
Award winners will be acknowledged on Friday 17 June at a dinner that will bring the whole industry together on the island to network and be inspired.
The chair of Kangaroo Island Food and Wine Association, Tony Nolan, said the awards program had been devised in response to requests from the Association’s members.
“We’re very pleased to be hosting these awards. It’s something our members have asked for and it will be open to all businesses on Kangaroo Island offering food and beverage experiences,” Mr Nolan said.
“The exposure that comes from such an awards program will highlight the industry on Kangaroo Island and bring real benefits to business and tourism here.”
He thanked the award sponsors – Kangaroo Island Industry and Brand Alliance, Tourism Kangaroo Island, TOMM, Sealink and the Commissioner for Kangaroo Island.
The Awards have been supported by an $80,000 Regional Development Fund grant to Kangaroo Island Food and Wine Association from the Government of South Australia.
Award entries close 5:00pm on Thursday 31 March. For more information and entry details, go to www.eatdrinkki.com.au
