Building a monument at Minnipa Research Centre, September 1965

Erecting a monument for the 50th anniversary of the Minnipa Research Centre which was commemorated at a field day in 1965.  The rock was taken from a small quarry at Yarwondutta.  On the right side is former Officer-in-Charge Don Winn.  The car port on the left of the office is still in use (2007).  A new office now stands between where the rock is being laid and the office.  The plaque commemorating the event is in the courtyard of the new building.  There remains a weather station just to the east of where the photo was taken.  The rock and its mounting were removed in 1998 when the new office was opened.  The rock and plaque were unveiled by a former Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. Gabriel Bywaters.
