A warm protected creep area was used to provide a safe area for young piglets to prevent chilling and over laying. This creep is heated by an overhead infra red globe. When NPRU was built underfloor heating was provided by thermostat controlled heating wires embedded in the concrete creep floor, this system worked well until wiring faults developed. After this, exposed overhead heating devices were installed.
