Horses

Horse movement and identification

All properties with 1 or more horses must have a property identification code.

There are no movement or certification requirements for moving horses from interstate into South Australia.

Any horses affected or suspected of being affected with a notifiable disease must not enter the state, unless authorised by the SA Chief Inspector of Stock.

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is working with horse exporters to ensure horses meet importing requirements for Japanese encephalitis. For more information about exporting horses, use the DAFF Manual of Importing Country Requirements (MICOR).
