Rock lobster pot registration
Conditions of registration
- You must be over 15 years of age.
- Pots must be registered before use.
- Registration must be renewed each year.
- Pot registrations are valid from the date of registration and expire each year on 31 May.
- Only 1 registration will be issued per person for a maximum of 2 rock lobster pots.
- You must pay the correct fee at the time of application.
- Registration fees are non-refundable even if you don't use your pots or change your mind.

How to register
New registrations online
FishNet allows you to make payments online using the Government of South Australia's secure payment gateway.
Go to Fishnet to register your recreational rock lobster pots.
We only accept payment by Mastercard or Visa.
Allow 21 days for the processing and delivery of your registration.
New registrations by email or post
Complete the Recreational rock lobster pot application form ( ).
Return the completed form by:
- email: pirsa.fisherieslicensing@sa.gov.au
- post: PIRSA Fisheries and Aquaculture, GPO Box 1625, Adelaide SA 5001.
A PIRSA representative will contact you to arrange payment.
We only accept payment by Mastercard or Visa.
Allow 21 days for the processing and delivery of your registration.
Renew registrations online
If you have previously registered a rock lobster pot, you will be sent a renewal application each year in September.
Renewal applications are accompanied with a tax invoice which you pay can pay either:
- online using your credit card via FishNet Registration Renewal Payments
- using the payment methods outlined on the tax invoice.
When renewing your registration online, you will need to enter the below information:
- Registration number (RL ******) located at the top centre of your tax invoice
- Invoice ID (FI *******) located on the bottom right hand corner of your tax invoice.
If you do not renew your registration for that year, you will need to submit a new application (see above) before you can use your pots again.

You can register, pay by Mastercard or Visa (no cash), and receive your tag at the following PIRSA offices.

Rock lobster pot registration pack
When you successfully register or renew your registration you will receive:
- a registration certificate that expires at the end of the rock lobster season
- a recreational rock lobster fishing brochure
- a rock lobster measuring gauge
- registration tags for each pot you register.
The registration process can take up to 21 days. If you need your tags urgently, we recommend visiting a PIRSA office to renew or register your rock lobster pot in person.
Lost tags
If you lose a tag:
- immediately remove the rock lobster pot from the water
- report the loss to Fishwatch on 1800 065 522
- complete the application for a replacement rock lobster gear tag ( ).
There is a fee of $36.75 to replace a rock lobster pot tag.
