Fishing limits
- Minimum size measured from tip of snout to tip of tail:
- East of longitude 136oE ( ) (including all Gulf waters): 32 cm
- West of longitude 136oE ( ): 30 cm
- Possession limit is one of the following (per person):
- 72 fish
- 10 kg of fillets
- 36 fish and up to 5 kg of fillets where a person has both fish and fillets.

Closure
A spawning closure applies to the take and possession of King George Whiting in Gulf St Vincent and Spencer Gulf from 1 April until 31 July.

Identification
King George Whiting look similar to Yellowfin Whiting and Silver Whiting. Make sure you know the difference between Whiting species so that you comply with size, bag, and boat limits.
King George Whiting have:
- spots on body
- clear fins
- more slender body (for size).
Yellowfin Whiting have:
- yellow fins and tail
- no silver stripe along the side of body
- no brown spots or bands on the body.
Silver Whiting have:
- a silver stripe along the side of the body
- clear fins and tail
- light brown banding or stripes along the body.
