Seed testing

A seed testing service is provided by Seed Services Australia to seed growers, companies, processors, resellers, importers, exporters, research institutes, universities and the farming community.

Seed tests analyse the physical quality of a seed line and are conducted according to International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) procedures.

Test results relate to the sample as received unless drawn from a seed lot that meets the conditions for the issuance of a Certified or ISTA Certificate of Analysis.

  • Weight determination (1000 seed weight)
  • Tetrazolium
  • Sprouting
  • Moisture content
  • Vigour
  • Quarantine inspection.

SARDI also conducts other seed and crop tests (fungal, nematode, bacteria, ARGT).

How to submit a sample

  1. Complete the Commercial seed sample request form (PDF 206.2 KB).
  2. Send the completed form with the seed sample to the address on the form.

Test results

A PDF certificate of analysis is issued via Seeds Online to registered users.
