The eleventh meeting of the Forest Industries Advisory Council of South Australia (FIAC-SA) was held in Adelaide on Wednesday 17 June 2026.
Co-Chair Michelle Ingley-Smith welcomed members, including newly appointed Co-Chair Jessica Douglas. Members also acknowledged retiring Co-Chair Tammy Auld for her significant contribution and leadership, and for her strong advocacy for the sector.
Members discussed impacts on forestry industries including from the Middle East conflict, cost pressures from increased imports and dumping allegations, labour shortages particularly for specialised skills, opportunities for working with the Forestry Centre of Excellence, cross-border harmonisation of freight requirements and surveillance for giant pine scale.
FIAC-SA noted progress on projects funded under the South Australian Wood Fibre and Timber Industry Master Plan and received an update on water allocation planning, with members raising concerns regarding deemed rate calculations.
FIAC-SA’s Annual Work Plan was discussed, with members providing additions to the forward agenda. A draft Annual Plan was presented to members for consideration and will be finalised out of session.
The next meeting of the Council will be scheduled for September 2026.
