PIRSA is progressing a reform agenda that aims to ensure South Australia has modern and forward-looking legislation.
These new pieces of legislation aim to keep the best parts of current systems, while making improvements that ensure South Australia is best placed to effectively manage existing and emerging challenges.
Biosecurity legislation
To ensure South Australia's biosecurity system remains effective and sustainable into the future, it is important to update and improve existing legislation. The Biosecurity Bill 2024 was introduced to Parliament in August 2024 and passed on 6 February 2025.
Veterinary services legislation
The Veterinary Services Bill was introduced to Parliament in July and passed on 30 November 2023.
