Fodder delivered to drought-impacted farmers on Eyre Peninsula

Eyre Peninsula farmers battling the ongoing effects of drought received vital support this week, with 80 tonnes of fodder delivered to 11 primary producers near Petina as part of the Malinauskas Government’s $73 million Drought Support Package.

This hay run - by charitable organisation Rural Aid – was supported through the $6 million SA Donated Fodder Transport Drought Assistance Scheme, which assists with the cost of transporting donated fodder across South Australia.

The investment in charity hay runs has enabled more than 4,400 tonnes of hay to be delivered to over 450 primary producers across drought-affected regions of South Australia.

Round Two of the scheme is being delivered in close partnership with charitable organisations such as Rural Aid, Rapid Relief Team, SA Dairyfarmers' Association, Need for Feed, and Farmers Relief Agency – each working to get fodder to those most in need. Charitable organisations can apply to take part in the scheme. For more information visit http://www.pir.sa.gov.au/drought

Further fodder deliveries to farmers across the state are expected in the coming weeks, as charities work through their lists of registrations.
