Fishcare volunteers ready to connect with boaties and fishers
Friday 23 October 2026 Fishing and aquacultureMedia release
Boaties and recreational fishers wanting to be up to date on fishing rules and regulations will be able to get the latest information from PIRSA’s Fishcare volunteers at the Adelaide 4WD and Boat Show event on 23–25 October.
The Fishcare team will be on hand at the 3-day event at the Wayville Showgrounds from Friday 23 October, ready to advise fishers on how to do the right thing in helping to protect our state’s aquatic resources.
Visitors to the Fishcare stand will be able to receive up-to-date recreational fishing information including size, bag and boat limits, fishing closures and any assistance to sign up to the SA Fishing app so they can access the latest fishing rules and information wherever they are.
Volunteers will also be providing free measuring gauges for popular recreational species including Blue Swimmer Crabs, Sand Crabs, Pipi, Rock Lobster and Abalone. Families can also enjoy a range of giveaways and educational resources.
The Fishcare Volunteer Program is a key community education initiative of PIRSA Fisheries and Aquaculture, with volunteers regularly attending fishing hotspots, boat ramps, jetties and community events across the state to promote responsible recreational fishing.
This comes following the State Government’s launch of the new Recreational Fishing Authority that has the responsibility to enhance fishing and tourism opportunities in South Australia.
