Native budworm moth activity – Update to 17 July 2026

Up to to 17 July, monitoring through the PestFacts SA native budworm pheromone trap network continues to show low moth activity across South Australia, indicating there is no immediate threat to pulse or canola crops.

At this time of year, traps are an early indicator of moth movement rather than crop risk. Occasional moths may be detected during winter, but damaging caterpillar populations are not expected until later in the season when susceptible crops begin flowering and podding.

Continued monitoring provides insight into the timing of moth flights and helps identify areas where activity may increase as the season progresses. The latest trap captures can be viewed through Ceaser Australia's MothTrapVis.
