New round of regional project grants available

Thriving Communities Program

Regional community groups can now apply for funding to support projects that benefit their local areas through the next round of the Thriving Communities grants.

The Thriving Communities Program provides grants of between $20,000 and $50,000 for projects that build stronger, more connected communities. This includes initiatives such as new or improved infrastructure, training, services, or events that deliver social wellbeing outcomes across the community.

Funded through the Malinauskas Government’s $15 million Thriving Regions Fund, the program aims to support new programs, develop leadership, build resilience and attract and grow jobs in regional areas.

Previously rounds of the Thriving Communities grants have funded a range of projects such as improving access at the Port Broughton Bowling Club, upgrading infrastructure at the Dunjiba Community Food Hub, and creating a new Outdoor Youth Zone for the Orroroo Netball Club.

Funded projects also included a playground upgrade in Balgowan, a revamp of the old Kulpara School site with new nature and community features, the creation of an intergenerational meeting place in Crystal Brook, and new rainwater tanks for the Prospect Hill Community Hall and War Memorial.

Grants support projects that can be completed within 12 months. Applications open 10 September 2025 and close 15 October 2025.

The Thriving Communities Program is non-competitive, meaning each application is assessed individually against the selection criteria in the order they are received. Learn more and find out how to apply.
