Visit PIRSA’s stall at Riverland Field Days

The Department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA) will showcase its services, programs and initiatives at this year's Riverland Field Days, held at Field Day Drive, Barmera, on Friday 18 September and Saturday 19 September 2026.

The PIRSA pavilion, covering site number 311 third avenue, will be staffed by experts with information and advice on biosecurity, H5 bird flu, the fruit fly response, varroa mite program, fisheries information, drought recovery and more.

Visitors can learn firsthand how PIRSA supports the Riverland and communities across South Australia by protecting our state's biosecurity and strengthening primary industries and regional communities.

Check out our tent to:

• Pick up information on H5 bird flu and learn how to stay informed and prepared.
• Learn about PIRSA’s response to current fruit fly outbreaks, including the latest restrictions, baiting and trapping activities, the Sterile Insect Technique (SIT) program, and the steps you can take to help keep South Australia fruit fly free.
• Chat to a Fisheries Officer or Fishcare volunteer to get up-to-date information about recreational fishing. We will show you how to use the new recreational SA Fishing app, which makes it much easier to access the state’s recreational fishing rules.
• Check out the SARDI Inland Waters display to learn about the freshwater monitoring and research being undertaken across South Australia and beyond. Explore the latest findings from the Flow-MER Program, see the electrofishing vessel Frank up close, and discover the specialised equipment used to monitor our waterways.
• Hear from our experienced Apiary team about managing bee pests and diseases, with a focus on varroa mite monitoring, testing, treatment options, and registration requirements. Learn how to identify and respond to key bee health threats, apply best-practice biosecurity and integrated pest management (IPM) strategies, and implement effective hive management techniques to maintain healthy, productive, and resilient bee colonies.
• Say ‘hi’ to PIRSA's Drought Support Team to learn about drought support programs available through the Government of South Australia. Find out what assistance is available and access resources to help manage your farm, livestock and land during drought.
• Drop in to the Fat Farmers Mobile Health Hub, proudly supported by Diabetes SA and PIRSA, for free health checks, practical health information, and support to improve the health and wellbeing of rural and regional communities. Learn about the services available to support your mental health and wellbeing.

To expand the range of information available, a SafeWork SA advisor will be on hand to provide free work health and safety advice and resources for the farming and agriculture sector.

Visitors can also learn more about the One Basin Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) – an industry-led research partnership bringing together researchers, industry and regional communities to address climate change, water risks and sustainability challenges across the Murray – Darling Basin.
