New information boards rolling out at SA boat ramps

Recreational boaters and fishers will soon notice a fresh look at selected South Australian boat ramps, with new information boards designed to make safety and environmental messaging clearer and easier to find.

The Department of Primary Industries and Regions has partnered with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) and other key agencies to streamline signage at boat ramps across the state. Over time, safety signage has become cluttered at some locations, making it difficult for boaters to quickly access the information they need before heading out on the water.

North Haven is the first boat ramp to feature the new installation, with additional sites to follow.

The new signage has been designed to:

  • bring together safety and environmental information from key agencies in one place
  • present information in a clear, easy-to-read format
  • include interchangeable panels so messages can be updated as needed
  • reduce overall visual clutter at boat ramps.

Depending on the location, the boards may include information about safe speeds, required safety equipment, lifejacket rules, recreational fishing regulations and local marine wildlife.

These upgrades aim to support safer boating experiences while protecting our marine environment, making it simpler for everyone to enjoy South Australia’s waterways with confidence.
