$1.8 million boost to regional community projects

Thriving Communities Program

Regional communities across the state will share just over $1.8 million to help bring their projects to life as part of the Government of South Australia's Thriving Communities program.

Following unprecedented demand for the Thriving Communities Program in 2024, the Malinauskas Government allocated an additional $1.2 million to the program, which has enabled a further 36 projects to be funded. This takes the total list of successful projects for the latest round to 46.

The additional investment will help regional communities deliver projects that build social connection, strengthen local participation, and improve equity of access.

The Thriving Communities Program (TCP) is funded through the State Government’s $15 million Thriving Regions Fund, which supports regional industries, creates jobs, and strengthens communities.

The program provides grants of between $20,000 and $50,000 for initiatives that build stronger, more connected regional communities, including new or improved infrastructure, training, services, or events that enhance wellbeing and local participation.

The grant aims to improve quality of life in regional areas by supporting local initiatives, developing leadership, attracting and retaining a skilled workforce, and building resilience. Successful projects create opportunities for people to connect, feel a sense of belonging, and take part in community life.

Applications for the next round of the Thriving Communities program closed last month and are currently under assessment.
