$3.8 million for shovel ready regional infrastructure projects

A spade resting against dirt

Regional communities will share in $3.8 million worth of grants for shovel ready infrastructure projects through the latest round of the Enabling Infrastructure Program (EIP).

The latest round includes grants for significant upgrades at the Berri Regional Child Care Centre, the Renmark Club, Bungala Aboriginal Corporation’s new Port Augusta site and to facilities at the Pichi Richi Woolshed Flat Station.

The City of Victor Harbor has received funding for its project upgrading essential services and the District Council of Loxton Waikerie has received funding to build essential worker accommodation next to Loxton Hospital.

Part of the annual $15 million Thriving Regions Fund, the EIP program offers grants of up to $1 million for infrastructure projects that strengthen and build strong regional communities and improve liveability.

For the first time, the Enabling Infrastructure grants have two streams:

  • Stream One – Infrastructure for shovel-ready projects, with grants ranging from $50,000 to $1 million.
  • Stream Two – Planning to support feasibility work, business cases and other preparatory activities, with grants available between $10,000 and $75,000.

Total funding allocated through this round is $4.5 million, including more than $680,000 in Stream Two grants.
