Rural Financial Counselling Service extended for drought-affected farmers

The Malinauskas Labor Government has extended critical financial counselling support services for regional communities continuing to recover from the recent drought.

While recent rainfall has helped business confidence levels across the South Australian agricultural sector place among the highest in the nation when compared with other states and territories, many rural businesses continue to recover from recent drought conditions.

This is why the Malinauskas Government is delivering $876,000 to Rural Business Support (RBS) to extend its financial counselling services for businesses that have endured sustained hardship from drought.

Increased resourcing will be maintained for the Rural Financial Counselling Service, delivered by RBS on behalf of the State and Federal Governments. This investment is provided through the $117 million Drought Support Package.

The Government will continue monitoring seasonal conditions and industry impacts throughout 2026 to ensure support measures remain responsive to community needs.
