Expanded eID device rebate

Grant details

The expanded rebate for sheep and farmed goat electronic identification (eID) includes all colours in the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS) year-of-birth (YOB) colour system for accredited eID tags.

Applications are open to SA sheep and goat producers who purchase eligible NLIS-accredited tags not designated for the current year.


Key dates

Applications close on 30 June 2027 at 5 pm.

Eligible eID tags must be purchased between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2027.


Amount

You can apply for a rebate on the purchase price of eligible eID devices of 25% up to a cap of 47.5 cents (GST exclusive) per tag.


Eligibility

The eID device rebate is open to South Australian sheep and farmed goat producers who:

  • have an active property identification code (PIC)
  • purchase NLIS-accredited eID tags that do not align to the designated YOB colour
  • provide invoices and proof of payment for purchases between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2027.

Tags must be purchased from the list of NLIS approved sheep and goat eID devices (PDF) to be eligible for rebate.

Eligible year-of-birth colour (YOB) eID tags are:

Black, orange, light green, purple, yellow, red, sky blue, pink (post-breeder)

2026

Black, white, light green, purple, yellow, red, sky blue, pink (post-breeder)

2027 (until 30 June)

Black, white, orange, purple, yellow, red, sky blue, pink (post-breeder)

The rebate excludes:

  • colours outside of the YOB colour system (for example: brown and grey)
  • non-NLIS accredited devices
  • tags that align to the current YOB colour (white in 2025, orange in 2026, light green in 2027).

How to apply

Read the:

If you have multiple PICs, you need to complete the application process for each PIC.

You will need the following information to complete your application:

  • PIC number
    Property location (address) and Local Government Area
  • Banking details in the name of the rebate applicant

You will need to upload copies of:

  • official tax invoices
  • full evidence of payment (such as bank statements, supplier statements, paid invoices)
  • a signed and witnessed acquittal form ( DOCX 794.1 KB ) (this is a legal requirement)
  • a statement by supplier not quoting ABN form (if relevant).

You must be a registered user of myPIRSA to complete the online application form.


What happens next

You will receive a receipt number upon submitting the online form. Submitting an application does not guarantee approval of a rebate.

Applications will be assessed by PIRSA in the order they are received, and outcomes will be advised in approximately 4 weeks.
