This case study was developed by PIRSA’s AgTech Program (2021–2025). PIRSA does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currency of the information provided, nor does it constitute endorsement. Please confirm details with the respective vendor.

High resolution satellite imagery to monitor and predict vine health, helping with vineyard management.

Benefits

Regular and seasonal summaries of paddocks or properties can:

  • showcase growth patterns
  • increase time efficiency (rather than checking each vine)
  • optimise irrigation usage
  • decrease costs of irrigation and chemicals.

Future farm planning is more informed, and the yield prediction can help to finalise harvesting times.

How it works

Deep Planet utilises satellite imagery and NDVI to monitor vine health, and moisture levels of canopies and soils. Reports can be generated seasonally, monthly and weekly.

Through weather predictions and the satellite imagery, a 2-week prediction of plant health and yields can be achieved. Data by Deep Planet has demonstrated up to 90% accurate yield predictions.
