Remote monitoring for beekeeping to support hive performance.

LB AgTech in-hive sensorBenefits

Monitoring beehive health is essential to maintain production. Using BeeSTAR, you can conduct targeted hive inspections that result in significant time and labour cost saving.

This includes alerts for individual hive issues early on, which can reduce the risk of catastrophic damage.

The digital hive reports and hive tracking also improve traceability and transparency for the supply chain.

The ability to remotely monitor internal and external hive conditions in real time does not replace manual inspections to correct hive issues. However, it provides peace of mind for whenever you are not on the property.

Targeted hive inspection being conductedHow it works

Sensors are installed between the centre frames inside the hive, which collect data such as:

  • queen status
  • diseases
  • temperature
  • productive hives.

This information is sent to a gateway on the pallet and uploaded to the cloud for analysis.

The BeeSTAR learns and adapts alongside beekeepers using this continuous data input, which enhances the system's accuracy and effectiveness over time. The data provides valuable insights and generates a health matrix based on bee stress factors for each hive.

If hive abnormalities are detected, the beekeeper is sent a notification to enable targeted inspections of the hives that need attention. BeeSTAR also offers bee foraging activity reports, quality matching pollination services, and weather sensing for early notification of bushfires and flooding.

Installation and power

Quick DIY installation, with free online onboarding by BeeSTAR staff.

Connectivity requirements

The system operates using a long erm evolution (LTE) wireless network. Satellite options are available for low coverage areas.

Pricing model

Subscription from $99 per year per hive.
