This case study was developed by PIRSA’s AgTech Program (2021–2025). PIRSA does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currency of the information provided, nor does it constitute endorsement. Please confirm details with the respective vendor.

Irrigation system providing producers with a simple platform for automation and scheduling.

Mottech hardware installed in a vinyard.

Benefits

Scheduling allows for water to be turned on and off remotely, according to producer requirements. This increases water efficiency, while decreasing:

  • irrigation
  • labour
  • fertiliser costs.

Producers don’t have to be on the property to operate the irrigation system.

How it works

The Mottech system incorporates hardware and software to measure flow rates, water and fertiliser usage. It provides historical data for the day, week, month and year.

Hardware is installed into the irrigation system to achieve automation across the whole property. Irrigation schedules can be made for each paddock or area.

The software is installed either onto a phone or laptop to view the dashboard online or via app.
