AgTech producer groups

The AgTech producer groups aimed to upskill and support regionally based producers in using technology, for industry-specific improvements.

All primary production sectors were targeted, including:

  • livestock – red meat, wool, pigs, poultry
  • viticulture
  • horticulture – tree crops, vegetables, floriculture, covered crops
  • aquaculture
  • fisheries
  • broadacre and grains
  • forestry
  • other commodities, such as apiary.

The groups allowed producers to share knowledge that improves their efficiency and profitability. It was an opportunity to help each other in the practical application of AgTech.

Group activities

AgTech producer groups met at least 3 times over a 15-month period.

Groups were led by an expert facilitator, to create a plan for what the members collectively waned to learn. The format, content, and delivery of the group’s activities was tailored to suit members’ knowledge, skills and areas of interest. Activities included:

  • upskilling workshops for primary producers in AgTech and data-based decision making
  • costs associated with an expert speaker
  • associated travel costs for the group to conduct a field study
  • catering and venue for group events
  • creating and printing resources to be delivered to the groups.

Individuals were also supported to implement technology in their business enterprises.
