Soil analysis probe – Sentek, Drill and drop

Soil probe technology measuring the moisture, salinity and temperature at multiple depths, for precision irrigation management.

Benefits

Data collected from the soil probe can boost efficiency when analysing a paddock or developing farm management plans.

Sentek can integrate into farm management software, such as weather stations, data loggers and irrigation controllers. It helps in crop scheduling of:

  • irrigation
  • seeding
  • harvesting
  • fertigation
  • herbicide application
  • soil health management.

How it works

The probe is available in lengths of 30, 60, 90 and 120cm, with sensors located every 10cm.

Soil profile data is updated continuously, providing a current picture of what is happening in the crop root zone.

The dashboard is accessible through Sentek’s online software program IrriMAX Live, with map, graph, and list options for your data.

Installation and power

Download the Android or iOS app for smartphone or tablet, or access the dashboard online via computer.

The probe can be installed by a Sentek South Australian distributor. It involves drilling a hole with a proprietary tapered auger and inserting the tapered probe, which can be buried to any depth. This allows machinery to work the upper soil layer.

Power is supplied by a long-life battery with solar panel charger.

Connectivity requirements

The probe is connected to a data transmission unit via cable, and data is sent to the online software program by 4G or satellite.

Pricing model

Upfront cost and ongoing fees.
