Dr Jason Earl

Biography

Dr Jason Earl has over 15 years of experience working as a research scientist with fish and fisheries in South Australia. He undertakes stock assessments and associated research on key finfish species that support South Australia’s commercial fisheries. His expertise spans various fields including marine and estuarine fish biology, fish population dynamics, fisheries science, stock assessment, seal-fisher interactions, and collaborating with industry to achieve meaningful science outcomes.

Dr Earl has a strong track record of building trust and constructive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, including licence holders of South Australia’s commercial fisheries. He leads multiple externally funded research projects that were developed in consultation with key stakeholders to address specific information needs of management, and complex problems currently facing the fishing industry in South Australia and nationally. Dr Earl has produced numerous scientific papers, book chapters and technical reports, and regularly presents his work at national and international conferences.
