Dr Alan Humphries
Biography
Dr Alan Humphries is the curator of the Australian Pastures Genebank, a collection of some 80,000 accessions representing 2600 temperate and tropical pasture legumes and grass species, collected form 178 countries. Alan is an experienced plant breeder, with a 25-year history of leading the SARDI-Barenbrug lucerne program, and 15 years of managing the SARDI annual medic and subterranean clover breeding programs.
Alan also leads the Crop Trust alfalfa BOLD (Biodiversity for Opportunities, Livelihoods and Development) project that aims to strengthen food and nutrition security by supporting the conservation and use of crop diversity.
