Dr Kelly Hill

Biography

Dr Kelly Hill is a research scientist with 16 years of experience in molecular research related to organisms impacting Australia’s primary industries and environment. Following an undergraduate degree in Nanotechnology, she completed a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Adelaide in 2009 and joined SARDI the same year.

Dr Hill joined SARDI’s entomology department as part of a CRC for plant biosecurity project investigating genes and their protein products involved in invertebrate pheromone perception and has since established herself in molecular diagnostics for a variety of organisms including bacteria, fungi, insects, and marine pests.

In her current role within the Molecular Diagnostic subprogram, Dr Hill contributes to a wide range of projects involving molecular diagnostics, high throughput sequencing (Illumina & Nanopore), bioinformatics and qPCR assay design and validation.
