Dr Mark Sosnowski

Biography

Dr Sosnowski has over two decades of viticulture and horticulture disease research experience, having published 50 peer-reviewed international scientific journal articles. Since 2003, he has been responsible for long-term research programs on managing grapevine trunk diseases in both Australia and New Zealand, collaborating with colleagues across Europe and North and South America.

He is the Australasian regional representative on the International Council for Grapevine Trunk Diseases and was the chairperson from 2014 to 2017. In addition, he has led biosecurity research focusing on impact management of exotic grapevine pathogens in collaboration with Cornell University, USA and currently leads a national research program to manage grapevine fungicide resistance.

Dr Sosnowski also leads research on the management of almond trunk disease in collaboration with Agriculture Victoria and the University of California Davis. He is an Affiliate Senior Lecturer at the University of Adelaide and supervises post-graduate students on a range of plant pathology topics.

As Sub-Program Leader, Horticulture Pathology at the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI), Dr Sosnowski oversees a portfolio of research that delivers outcomes to key horticultural crop industries and addresses the disease management challenges in our region.
