Dr Ismail Ismail
Biography
Dr Ismail Ahmed Ismail has a Bachelor of Plant Protection, a master in Plant Pathology and a PhD in Plant Pathology from the University of Adelaide. He has 20 years of experience in plant pathology at various organisations and is currently chief investigator on fungicide resistance research based at SARDI in the Horticulture Pathology group at PIRSA South Australia.
Research interests
- Advancing diagnostics for monitoring and management of fungicide resistance in grapevine
- Optimise high-throughput laboratory testing
- Optimise in-field testing, develop sampling protocols, monitor fungicide resistance and develop assays to detect new resistance markers
- Evaluating the fitness of fungicide resistance in powdery mildew and downy mildew
- Validation of Net Form Net Blotch (NFNB) toxins and virulence factors in disease and as a selection tool (previous project funded by GRDC)
