Dr Phil Davies
Biography
Dr Davies has more than three decades experience in applied agricultural research and project management, primarily in the crop sciences. His research expertise in plant cell culture, genetics and crop breeding led to significant practical outcomes in accelerated wheat and barley breeding using doubled haploid technology. Phil has managed large research collaborations including the Pulse Breeding Australia germplasm development program, the SARDI-GRDC Bilateral Agreement and the Commonwealth funded Dryland Legume Improvement Program.
Following his lengthy time as SARDI’s Technical Coordinator for grains research projects and manager of plant breeders rights, Phil was appointed to the role of Research Partnership Business Manager in 2023 which includes management of SARDI’s Contracts Unit, intellectual property and the operational components of SARDI’s relationships with multiple stakeholders including investors and the University of Adelaide and Flinders University.
