Roger Maywald

Biography

Mr Roger Maywald has been in the wine grape growing industry for 45 years, growing up on the family farm at Light Pass. At 18 years he inherited his family's 50-acre property to manage and maintain.

Roger went on to start up a vineyard contracting business, being contracted to manage Peter Lehmann vineyards for 19 years and also securing contract grape harvesting with other Barossa growers.

He then commenced at the NRC as the Farm Manager in June 2013. Managing the 70-acre site, his main focus has been growing wine grapes, some apricot, cherry and peach trees.

• Conserving vineyard moisture by applying mulches
• Minimal chemical applications to control disease
• Growing top end wine grapes to meet market demand
• Permanent swads on the vineyard floor
