The tenth meeting of the Forest Industries Advisory Council of South Australia (FIAC-SA) was held in Mount Gambier on Friday 13 February 2026.
The meeting was hosted by the Hon Clare Scriven MLC, Minister for Forest Industries. The Minister acknowledged recent achievements by forestry industries and all involved, including the official opening of the Forestry Centre of Excellence and the Limestone Coast Technical College, and welcomed new members to FIAC-SA.
The Minister highlighted industry’s concerns regarding imported timber products and the approval of the Standardise Firefighting Training Project under the SA Wood Fibre and Timber Industry Master Plan (the Master Plan).
Members discussed relevant industry developments and challenges including competition with imported wood products, market downturn, skills and career pathways, affordable housing, and the giant pine scale response.
The meeting discussed the presentation by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport on the Green Triangle Freight Action Plan Refresh project.
Members endorsed the document ‘Advancing SA’s Forest Industries: 2026 Master Plan Update.’
The next meeting of the Council is scheduled for 30 April 2026.
