The ninth meeting of the Forest Industries Advisory Council of South Australia (FIAC-SA) was held in Adelaide on Tuesday 23 September 2025.

The Hon Clare Scriven MLC, Minister for Forest Industries hosted the meeting. The Minister acknowledged the ongoing progress and achievements of the South Australian forestry industries, including various projects under the Wood Fibre and Timber Industry Master Plan (the Master Plan), the Forestry Centre of Excellence, and the Giant Pine Scale biosecurity response in Adelaide’s northeastern suburbs.

Members discussed relevant industry developments and challenges including workforce shortages, affordable housing, and implications of the recent National Bush Summit series held in Mount Gambier.

In addition, the meeting discussed two key presentations, one on the State of the SA’s Plantation Forests Report, completed under the Master Plan, and the other on regional housing challenges from the Office for Regional Housing.

Members endorsed FIAC-SA’s Work Plan for 2025/26 and its Annual Report for 2024/25.

The next meeting of the Council is scheduled for November 2025.
